  1. Check all valves are closed and all parts of the pipeline are connected properly
  2. Loading. Put the hemp raw material into the extraction column, check the extraction column is sealed
  3. Start the heating equipment (GY-5), put the E102 cooling coil into cold water
  4. Vacuumize system. Turn on the vacuum pump (2RS-2), open all valves except the pressure relief valve, and close the vacuum valve when the pressure gauge is stable. After observing all pressure gauges are stable, confirming the system is well sealed, then close all valves.
  5. Add the required solvent to the solvent tank (≤80% of the capacity, the limit cannot exceed 90%). The solvent volume is determined by the usage quantity of extraction columns. (put the solvent tank on the scale and determine the amount of solvent according to the weight change). The cooling coil is placed in ice water or dry ice (to keep the temperature in the heat exchanger at -7-0°C). The interlayer of the collecting tank is heated by heat transfer oil (the temperature is controlled at 43ºC-52ºC).
  6. Open the outlet valve of the solvent tank, the inlet valve of the solvent of the extraction column, and the solvent enters the extraction column. Observe the window of the solvent tank. When the solvent no longer decreases. Close the outlet valve of the solvent tank and the inlet valve of the extraction column. Soak the material for a period of time to extract the  (10-20 minutes). After soaking, open the solvent outlet valve of the extraction column. The extraction liquid is introduced into the collection tank (evaporation tank), the solvent (butane) in the collection tank evaporates, and the solvent (butane) vapor is cooled by the dryer and the condenser coil (E102) to re-liquefy and enter the solvent tank for recycling. The concentrated hemp extract will remain at the bottom of the collection tank.
  7. Observe through the collection tank window, when no more liquid flows into the collection tank, close the outlet valve of the extraction column. Open the outlet valve of the collection tank and the inlet valve of the solvent tank, and the GY-5 is connected to the bottom of the collection tank for heating. Observe that the pressure gauges of the solvent tank and the collection tank stabilize; the collection tank stops heating; close the valves: the outlet valve of the collection pipe and the inlet valve of the solvent tank.
  8. Transfer concentrates residues. When the collection tank stops heating, open the vent valve, open the collection tank, and transfer the material concentrate to a suitable container. Then open the used extraction cartridge, take out the material residue in it, and clean it. (If you continue to extract, load new hemp raw materials, repeat operations 1-7)
  9. Clean: use HPLC grade acetone or ethanol for cleaning. Protect yourself well when acetone is used for cleaning. The step four should be done again to remove the residual ethanol in the system when ethanol is used for cleaning.
  10. If the extraction is over, it will not be used in the short term. Open all valves to connect the entire system to the external environment. Make sure there is no backlog and clean it. Finally, clean with inert gas (available under conditions) to keep the equipment dry and clean.
